My family is here visiting this week! They arrived yesterday and I’m busy playing tourguide. As one of their first excursions I took them to Sagrada Familia today. I had only seen it from the outside until now, so it was cool for me to see too. The line just to get in wrapped around the entire building, but moved pretty fast. The waiting time for the lift was even longer. We bought lift tickets to go up one of the towers, but our scheduled time was over an hour after we arrived. We spent the hour wandering through the cathedral, taking pictures, admiring the stained-glass windows, and exploring the museum, and the lift turned out to be worth waiting for. It took us up to the top of the building and from there we walked across a little bridge that looked out over the city. The view was beautiful and we got a lot of great pictures. The staircase down was pretty cool too. It was a winding, narrow, dark spiral staircase that seemed like it would never end, but we had a lot of fun looking out the windows to see different points of view on the city. I can’t wait to see what Sagrada Familia will look like when it’s finished (whenever that may be…) and I’ll definitely have to come back to visit it when it’s completed.
