I did not honestly know what to expect with Valencia. Besides a few hiccups along the way, the trip to Valencia and the subsequent exposure to culture, the arts, and science was so fascinating that there was little time for nightlife. This is what Valencia offers, a week away from one's troubles, to experience moderned tradition and science as one.

There are no words to express the overwhelming intensity of La Sagrada Familia. So there's no point even trying.

This is the only picture I could choose to symbolize the love of tradition, the embrace of art and music during Fira de Julio. It was lucky that we stayed in Valencia during the climax of the month long celebration: Spanish conquistadors fought dragons in the streets, music of all varieties and intensities played without cease, women mastered light, then fire, and then silence. All that is odd, and different …

Missing home is inevitable, even when you’re living in a beautiful city like Barcelona. However, being away from the US during the fourth of July crosses the border into tragedy. Luckily, my roommates and I found a little bit of home in Barcelona.                 Peggy Sue’s American Diner allowed us to celebrate the fourth of July American style. We ordered burgers, French fries, onion rings, milkshakes and chicken fingers. In my …

I think we all have moments when we feel like we were where we were supposed to be at that time. In a lifetime, we have very few of these moments. So if one ever comes our way, we shouldn’t hesitate, just move.                 This past July 7 and 8 was the running of the bulls, also known as Encierro, in Pamplona, Spain. For those unfamiliar with the occasion, Encierro is …

It’s been almost two weeks in Spain and what do I have to show for it? A few pictures? A few stories? How about a new life unfolding in portraits of beautiful Barcelona? At twenty-five, I have traveled through five different countries, but have never gone more than a week away from my family and friends.  Yet, here I am in a brand new city. A city, more like a …

  • I Will Return to Girona

Ah, what a long, glorious weekend. If you can, go to Girona. Kiss the buttox of a lion, fall in love, or remain there. Dance at the copas (tents in the forest with live music, the best nightlife), visit the bizarre and obscene Dali Theatre in Figueres, try your very best to find the ellusive, mystical, and uninhabited beach on the beautiful Costa Brava, or simply meet the very best young …

  • A Trip of Firsts

This trip has been a trip of many 'firsts'. Prepare yourselves, begin laughing now. I had a sheltered life, okay? This is my first time in another country, seeing the ocean, and coming to Barcelona was the first time I had been on a plane. But, since I can't take pictures of planes or countries as well as I can oceans and beautiful, somewhat underpopulated beaches, I will do just that.

  • There Are Seven Times as Many People in Barcelona as there are in Wyoming

What is it to live in the city? I could not tell you, I have only lived in one small city: Denver. The concept of 'many people' is not one I'm entirely familiar with. I attend a school with merely 15,000 people. During the school year, we double the size of the town the unversity is at. That's a big deal. As is this: Barcelona, part of it anyway, that I …

Hola,  The weekend was quite busy from our trip on Friday up until today. I did actually make it to Sitges yesterday and it was really beautiful. We didn't make it there until later in the afternoon but it was nice because by then it was sunny and a good temperature. I really enjoyed finally going to  Sitges. The ride was actually very quick and quite beautiful as well. It was …
