Refund for aerobus: 8,75 euro Madrid was an awesome experience! It was really cool to see the differences between Catalan and the Capital of Spain. The city was huge and the metro was a lot more complex than ours in Barcelona. It was really cool to see the Capital and the Palacio Real. Palacio Real was absolutely gorgeous and everything was so proper. I could understand why the current king wouldn't …

Salsa ended on Monday and I am definitely dissapointed that it's over. Although I was definitely hesitant at times, I truly enjoyed these classes and they were definitely worth the money, especially with the money back from the Cultural Credit Card :) This was both a fantastic way to step outside of my boundaries and expand my already incredible dance skills. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with the people …

This was definitely one of the highlights of my stay here thus far. My appreciation for the style of play from Barca had been growing but nothing quite compares to seeing it live. We got the tickets for a discount from one of the promoters here in Barcelona; getting the actual tickets was a pain, but I have never known a better 50 euros spent. The game was unreal. Barca …

Today was the 30th anniversary of an attempted coup d'état in Spain that lasted 18 hours. Antonio Tejero led the failed coup by bursting into the Spanish Congress of Deputies with 200 armed soldiers from the Guardia Civil while they were electing Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo to be the country's new Prime Minister. After several hours of silence, King Juan Carlos I addressed the nation on television, denouncing the coup and …

I haven’t updated for almost a week, but I’ve done a lot of cool (and crazy) things since my last entry. On Friday we took a day trip to Girona and Figueres to see the cities and visit the Dalí museum. Girona is only about an hour and a half away from Barcelona and it is such a beautiful city! The buildings along the river are painted bright colors …

Hillary and I just got back from seeing the Catalan film "Pa Negre" (or "Pan Negro" in Castellano). It just won several awards at los Premios Goya (the Spanish equivalent of the American Academy Awards), including best picture. I managed to understand most of the movie with only a few gaps. At some points I was just barely managing to follow along, but overall it wasn't too …

Today was the feast day of Santa Eulalia, one of the patron saints of Barcelona, so it was essentially an all-out party in the streets of the city. The festivities started at 10am and still haven’t stopped! To celebrate Barcelona’s young martyr, we watched a parade of gegants march across the city, listened to Catalan oboe and violin music, watched castellers make human towers, watched Catalan dances, and …

Well, now that I’ve seen Camp Nou I can definitely say that FC Barcelona is "Més que un club!" I’d even go as far as to say that my life is complete now that I’ve seen it, but that might be a bit overdramatic… It was definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen so far though! We got to see all of Barça’s trophies, learn about the history …

Yesterday evening, Barcelona SAE held its first intercambio event of the semester with the Spanish students of Blanquerna Ramon Llull University. The intercambio saw a big turnout of students eager to meet peers from another culture and help one another practice speaking their respective lanuages. Throughout the hour, students rotated in small groups and discussed various topics while alternating between speaking Spanish and English. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a "pica pica" …

This weekend I left Spain for the first time to go visit my friend Courtney in Paris! I flew out Thursday evening and arrived at my hotel in Paris by 11pm. Courtney has class on Fridays so she couldn’t meet me in Paris until Friday afternoon, so it was weird to be alone in a hotel for the night. I’m so used to sharing a little room with Hillary …
